After the death of George Floyd that happened in Minneapolis, protests started to form, which later became riots. The riots caused destruction to buildings, the lighting of fires, and police officers who attempted to quell the disruption were injured in the process.
According to Fox News, there were numerous agents with the United States Secret Service who were inured when rioters threw objects and lit fires just outside of the White House gates. This happened as authorities were searching for car bombs as protests over George Floyd’s death continued to roil the capital.
One officer with the Chicago Police Department suffered multiple broken bones. Dozens of other officers were also injured as rioters continued to unleash mayhem in the city.
For example, one officer in Davenport, IA was shot during an ambush as he responded to a public disturbance. The officer is said to be “doing well and in pretty good spirits,” according to the Des Moines Register.
