Three men have been arrested as suspects in a drive-by shooting on July 5 in New York. The men’s names are Devon Vines, Laquan Heyward and Davon Delks.

Surveillance shows deadly shooting in front of child

NYPD Chief Rodney Harrison wrote on Twitter on July 16,

“Earlier this morning, members of the Bronx Violent Felony Squad with the assistance of Bronx Warrants, 44 Pct Squad, the Criminal Enterprise Investigations Section, and TARU apprehended & arrested Davon Delks, Laquan Heyward, and Devon Vines for the Homicide of Anthony Robinson.”

A heartbreaking surveillance video shows the incident. In it, a man, Anthony Robinson, is walking with his 6-year-old daughter’s hand in his. The pair was crossing Sheridan Avenue at E 170th St in the Bronx.

Then, a car pulls up next to them. The passenger of the car points a gun out the window and shoots Robinson. His daughter then runs away. She was able to escape with no injuries, according to NBC New York.

Another shooting happened right after

“Police are still investigating whether another shooting that took place nearby after Robinson’s death was connected,” writes Myles Miller. “Two gunmen ambushed Joel Baba, and Eghosa Imafidon, and Mohammed Baba in the hallway of 306 East 171 Street, police said. Baba, 22, and Imafidon, 23, were killed, while the third man, 29, was struck in the arm and survived, according to police.”

Gun violence is on the rise in New York City. The rate at which people are being shot, especially young kids and adolescents, is alarming.

For example, Chief Rodney Harrison wrote of another terrifying incident that took place on July 15, “Yesterday, police officers in the 75th Precinct responded to a call of a male shot. Further investigation revealed that while the victim was entering an UBER, several unknown perpetrators exited two vehicles, discharged their firearms, striking the male victim five times.”

Further, two unknown shooters murdered a 1-year-old child, Devall Gardner in New York City on July 12 at 11:00 p.m. The shooting took place in the area around 464 Madison Avenue near the 79 precinct. There were two perpetrators who struck 4 victims total.

A large reward is being offered for information regarding this case. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or direct message @NYPDTips on Twitter.

More updates on the Anthony Robinson case will hopefully come soon. In the meantime, New Yorkers must look out for each other so that this kind of devastating violence doesn’t continue.
